This is our second year of having the honor of sponsoring Sonoma County’s Pride Parade and Festival. We were thrilled to show our solidarity and contribute to this joyful celebration of our queer community.
The Pride theme this year is Queeroes: Celebrating our Past, Present & Future Sheroes, Heroes, and Queeroes! In the words of the organizers, “This inclusive and empowering theme is deeply rooted in the experiences and achievements of Sonoma County’s LGBTQI community. We honor the contributions and resilience of queer individuals from our own county’s history, shedding light on both well-known and lesser-known local queer figures.”
Like last year, our team’s theme was “OUT in the Wild,” representing the intersection of our work in the environmental field and the loud-and-proud nature of Pride.
Our booth featured a “Queer Conservation” Jeopardy-style game that shared more about what we do, and opened up conversations about how land conservation serves us all. From queer critters to queer environmental leaders, there was much to be learned and celebrated. Plus, folks had a chance to win our OUT in the Wild shirts!
We walked in the parade alongside Sonoma Land Trust, and were so excited to see many of our other partner organizations there (Loved tabling next to you, Sonoma County Regional Parks!). We were also so happy to see Supervisor Coursey there.
As with all of our work, this was a team effort and we were happy to have a strong team showing. We can’t wait to join next year, and we will continue to work on showing up in bigger and better ways for the LGBTQIA+ community all year long.
