We at Ag + Open Space are profoundly saddened by the recent passing of long-time farmer and community advocate, Lorri Duckworth. As some of our most well-known easement landowners, Lorri, her husband Oscar, and their children have been inspirational in their passion for agriculture and the importance of connecting our communities to the land.

Lorri Duckworth

Lorri was a strong advocate for agriculture and natural resource conservation and stewardship, and she and Oscar thoughtfully stewarded Duckworth Family Farm. Recently they worked with Ag + Open Space and colleagues Greg Gillis and his partner Ashley to conserve the nearby Gillis Ranch. Beyond conserving and stewarding land, Lorri went above and beyond in her endeavors to create joyful opportunities for our communities to connect with agriculture. Whether it was hosting field trips with us, the Sonoma Resource Conservation District, and LandPaths, or opening their farm up to the public during u-pick days, Lorri created experiences for others to connect with nature and agriculture in ways that altered how they saw the land.

We are grateful to Lorri for her commitment to preserving agricultural, scenic, and natural resources for future generations. She will certainly be missed, but her legacy lives on in fresh-picked blueberries, homemade ice cream, and sun-filled days on her beloved farm.
