Recently, we embarked on an exciting endeavor at our Saddle Mountain Open Space Preserve – to start gathering footage of our dedication to conservation with the installation of a wildlife camera. Positioned strategically within the preserve, our camera has become a silent sentinel, capturing the comings and goings of the preserve’s diverse inhabitants.

The footage we’ve captured is nothing short of mesmerizing – a veritable tapestry of life unfolding before our eyes. From the stealthy movements of a bobcat to the curious antics of an opossum, to the gentle grazing of deer and the bustling activity of turkeys, each frame tells a story of resilience, adaptation, and interconnectedness.

But beyond the sheer wonder of these encounters lies a deeper truth – the importance of wildlife corridors in preserving biodiversity and sustaining healthy ecosystems. Wildlife corridors serve as vital pathways that allow animals to move freely between habitats, facilitating essential behaviors such as foraging, mating, and more.

Saddle Mountain Open Space Preserve, with its rich diversity of flora and fauna, exemplifies the critical role that wildlife corridors play in maintaining ecological balance. By protecting and preserving these natural pathways, we ensure that species can thrive and adapt to changing environmental conditions, safeguarding the integrity of our natural heritage for future generations.

Our wildlife camera serves as a poignant reminder of why our work is so crucial. It captures not just the beauty of individual creatures but the interconnected web of life that sustains us all. It underscores the need for continued conservation and stewardship to safeguard our precious natural and working lands.

As stewards of the land, we remain committed to our mission of permanently conserving Sonoma County’s agricultural, natural resource, and scenic open space lands. The installation of our wildlife camera is just one small step in a much larger journey towards a more sustainable and resilient future.
