The Vegetation Management Grant Program Project Ranking Tool is a ranking system used to prioritize prospective vegetation management grant projects. The ranking system is designed to elevate projects that best improve public safety and to prevent large damaging fires, using a formula based on the Sonoma County Wildfire Risk Index, CAL FIRE’s Fire Hazard Severity Zones (FHSZ), estimated response times of fire suppression resources, collaboration and other wildfire hazard reduction criteria identified in the CWPP to aid in ranking and prioritizing mitigation, education and planning projects.
The survey will ask you a series of questions over 10 pages, which are sectioned off into digestible chunks. The entire survey shouldn’t take any more than 30 minutes.
Prior to initiating the survey, you can review the questions here. You may also want to access this online web map application. The application will allow you to determine your project’s average Wildfire Risk Index, average Fire Hazard Severity Zone, and determine a count of Communities at Risk (CARs) within 1.5 miles of your project. Lastly, some of your responses to the questions in the Project Ranking Tool have character count limits. You may want to use this link to estimate word/character counts to help you check your text prior to filling out the form.
