Build community and learn about plants and wildlife during our hands-on work party stewarding vernal pools! Haroutunian South is a special protected site on the Santa Rosa Plain that is closed to the public. We will be clipping Himalayan blackberry that is encroaching on Sonoma sunshine (Blennosperma bakeri) habitat as well as doing other maintenance tasks to promote biodiversity in the vernal pool area of the site. And, of course, we’ll learn fun facts and share stories about nature throughout the morning – it is a work party, after all.

PLEASE NOTE: This is an in-person outing. All in-person events follow current Sonoma County health orders and guidelines for group activities to keep everyone safe during COVID-19. Masks and social distancing will be required and participants will have their temperature checked upon arrival. No experience is necessary; training and tools will be provided. Best suited to ages 10 and above; minors must be accompanied by an adult. Finally, please let us know in advance if you can no longer attend so we can offer a spot to someone on the waitlist.

There is no charge for this event, which is made possible by the voters of Sonoma County who fund the work of Ag + Open Space with a quarter-cent sales tax.

If you have questions, please contact Allison Titus, Community Education Manager at allison@lagunafoundation.org.
