What happens at Montini Preserve as the sun goes down?

Join Sonoma Ecology Center for a special sunset hike through Montini Preserve and discover the wild neighbors who call Sonoma home. Led by Galen Freed-Wilhelm, one of Sonoma County’s foremost wildlife trackers, we’ll slow down, look closely, and search for the tracks, signs, and other clues animals leave behind.

As daylight fades, we’ll experience the preserve in a whole new way. Keep your eyes open–some of Montini’s smallest residents may even glow in the dark!

This leisurely, exploration-focused hike is best suited for intermediate hikers and includes mild elevation changes and uneven terrain.

What to bring: Dress in layers, wear sturdy shoes, and bring a flashlight and water bottle. Please note that there are no restroom facilities at this entrance to the preserve.

Families welcome: Children ages 12 and under are welcome with an adult chaperone.

This outing is FREE to attend thanks to the voters of Sonoma County, who fund the work of Sonoma County Ag + Open Space with a quarter-cent sales tax.
