Strengthening Community Connections Through Spanish-Language Outreach

At Ag + Open Space, our mission has always centered on protecting the lands that sustain our way of life, from working farms and ranches to natural areas that safeguard clean water, wildlife habitat and scenic beauty. But just as important as protecting the land is ensuring that everyone in Sonoma County has access to information about how these landscapes support our communities.
This year, we took a meaningful step toward expanding that reach. We recently partnered with Nexo Media, a locally based Spanish-language marketing agency, to help us better connect with the thousands of Sonoma County residents whose first language is Spanish. Understanding that effective outreach goes far beyond translation, Nexo Media worked closely with our team to shape messages that reflect cultural nuance, community priorities and the ways people engage with land and conservation in their daily lives.
The result? A series of vibrant Spanish-language ads now appearing in some of Sonoma County’s most beloved Latino-owned and community-serving markets including Lola’s, Rancho Mendoza, Ortega’s, Juanita’s and several others across the county.
These supermarkets are more than places to shop, they’re community hubs. Families gather to pick up groceries, catch up with friends and see what’s happening locally. By placing our ads in these spaces, we’re meeting people quite literally where they are, ensuring our messages about land conservation, community benefits and the importance of voter-supported funding reach a broader audience.
Thanks to Nexo Media’s thoughtful creative work, these messages are visually compelling, culturally resonant and grounded in community values.
Sonoma County is home to diverse communities and languages, and our outreach efforts must reflect that. Expanding our Spanish-language communications is not only about accessibility, it’s about inclusion, trust-building and ensuring that every resident sees themselves in the story of how we protect and steward our shared landscapes.
