This year we had the exciting honor of joining Sonoma County’s Pride Parade and Festival as a sponsor. We were thrilled to show our solidarity and contribute to this joyful celebration of our queer community.
The Pride theme this year is COMMUNITY! and these celebrations are, in the words of the organizers, “all about being together in the spirit of diversity and belonging. Celebrating our connectedness through our vast differences and our sameness to realize we are all in this together. Each of us is a unique individual, yet we are united.” While this is only one event, we see this as an important way we can be part of building a more safe, joyful, and equitable community.

Our team’s theme was “OUT in the Wild,” representing the intersection of our work in the environmental field and the celebratory nature of Pride. We showed up in hiking gear bursting with rainbow colors, fabulous field attire, and of course some Ag + Open Space swag.
Nuestro stand presentó un juego estilo Jeopardy “Conservación Queer” que compartió más sobre lo que hacemos y abrió conversaciones sobre cómo la conservación de la tierra nos sirve a todos. Desde criaturas queer hasta líderes ambientales queer, había mucho que aprender y celebrar. Además, ¡la gente tuvo la oportunidad de ganar nuestras camisetas de OUT in the Wild!

Caminamos y presentamos junto a Sonoma Land Trust y estamos entusiasmados con las oportunidades futuras para que la comunidad ambientalista colabore en cómo trabajamos con y para nuestras comunidades.
Como ocurre con todo nuestro trabajo, este fue un esfuerzo de equipo y estábamos felices de tener un equipo fuerte. Estamos ansiosos por unirnos el próximo año y trabajaremos para encontrar formas mejores y más grandes de mostrarnos a la comunidad LGBTQIA+ durante todo el año.
