Sonoma County Agricultural Preservation and Open Space District

Van Hoosear Wildflower Preserve

This gently sloping grassland and oak savannah has served as a popular wildflower preserve for generations. You’ll find over 250 species of common and rare wildflowers and native grasses scattered throughout the property. Carriger Creek, a tributary of Sonoma Creek, runs through the Preserve. The property is managed by the Sonoma Ecology Center, with dual goals of protecting the Preserve’s botanical, aquatic and wildlife values and providing public access for educational purposes. The property, preserved by a District easement, may be visited by guided tour.
