Sonoma Mountain Ranch

Sonoma Mountain Ranch

Nestled in the middle of a complex of protected lands, and buttressed by Jack London State Historic Park to the east and Fairfield Osborn Preserve to the west, the Sonoma Mountain Ranch property represents an important piece of the puzzle in efforts to conserve the agricultural, natural, scenic and recreational resources of Sonoma Mountain. The property will provide potential public access opportunities linking the proposed North Slope Sonoma Mountain Ridge Trail and Jack London State Historic Park. The Sonoma Mountain Ranch property contains important ecological resources, including oak woodlands, grasslands , wetlands and stream corridors. The sweeping vistas from the summit of the property extend to the Pacific Ocean, San Francisco Bay, and on clear days, even the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

The District acquired this prominent property at the end of 2008, with the assistance of the Sonoma Land Trust and a generous grant from the State Coastal Conservancy.
