The District participated financially to protect this small 1.61-acre property with a conservation easement to preserve its natural resources and open space values. Part of the City of Santa Rosa’s Colgan Creek Park and Preserve, the parcel will create a 2.42-acre park when joined to a Sonoma County Water Agency parcel. The long-term city project will result in the e restoration of a creek channel and a contiguous riparian corridor restored for fish and wildlife, as well as creation of pathways and other park improvements for recreational use. The property was purchased from the Burbank Housing Authority that is developing an affordable housing project adjacent to the future park and preserve. It is just east of Elsie Allen High School. The future neighborhood park will serve the development and the surrounding residential area and offer outdoor education opportunities for local student groups.
