This spectacular property was the largest privately-owned landholding between Bodega Bay and the Russian River and is surrounded by publicly-owned and protected properties. The landscape includes rolling coastal grasslands, clusters of mixed coastal forest and a portion of Furlong Gulch.
The District has contracted with the Gold Ridge Resource Conservation District for the development of a Management Plan for the Property. This plan will address the property’s natural and cultural resources, the on-going ranching operation, and opportunities for appropriate public access. In the future, the District plans to work with the California Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) to transfer the property as an addition to Sonoma Coast State Park, while retaining a conservation easement to permanently preserve the important coastal grasslands that are highly visible from Highway 1. Guided tours are available.
