Sonoma County Agricultural Preservation and Open Space District

Matching Grants

Since its creation in 1990 by the voters of Sonoma County, the District continues to partner with the county, it cities, other public agencies and non-profit organizations to provide matching funds for projects that protect, preserve and enhance urban open spaces and that provide recreational and education opportunities to residents. To date, the Program has provided nearly $29 million toward projects. Examples of successful projects include a town green for the Town of Windsor, the Prince Memorial Greenway in the City of Santa Rosa, and Petaluma Marsh, the 250-acre expansion of lands along the Petaluma River for public access and habitat enhancement adjacent to Shollenberger Park in the City of Petaluma.
