Since its creation in 1990 by the voters of Sonoma County, the District continues to partner with the County, its cities, other public agencies and non-profit organizations to provide matching funds for projects that provide local open space, community recreation or public access and educational opportunities.
The District has approved grants for local entities totaling nearly $15 million which has funded land acquisition, the development of recreational amenities, and restoration of open space within or near urban areas. In 2009, the program will provide up to $2 million in matching grants and will match the applicant's contribution dollar for dollar. Below are the related documents and information to apply for a matching grant.
