Sotoyome Highlands

Along the banks of the Russian River north of Windsor, osprey nest amidst large tracts of oaks and redwoods. Sotoyome Highlands includes over 1,800 feet of river frontage, and a wealth of native plants and wildlife. Protected by a conservation easement, extensive areas of rolling upland terrain provide grazing for livestock and rise steeply to a prominent knoll, one of the highest in the area. To the west, you can see the Russian River Valley; to the north, Fitch Mountain and Healdsburg; to the east, Chalk Mountain and Mt. St. Helena. This diverse environment, with its river and mountain wildlife, is an important natural area.
