Petaluma Marsh & Alman Marsh

Visitors come from all over the state to enjoy something in our own backyard… Shollenberger Park in Petaluma. This birder’s paradise was expanded on one side by Alman Marsh and on the other side by the Petaluma River Marsh project through the Matching Grant Program in partnership with the City. Many rare animal and plant species make their home in the area, such as the endangered salt marsh harvest mouse and threatened bird species. Come and wander the park and Alman Marsh, where over 150 species of birds were spotted last year. Return soon to visit Petaluma Marsh when trails are completed around an exciting state–of-the-art recycled water project that will enhance and enlarge this wonderful outdoor experience. Be sure to bring your binoculars and bird guides!
