Laguna Uplands Preserve

Early birders prepare! If you enjoy early morning walks and the serenity and beauty that nature has to offer, Laguna Uplands is the place for you. Bring your binoculars to see and hear the “dawn chorus” of waterfowl, raptors and other birds that call this special ecosystem home. This and other laguna properties comprise one of the largest freshwater wetlands in northern California. Students use this site as an outdoor classroom to learn about nature through the District’s In Our Own Back Yard educational program. Located on the western edge of the Laguna de Santa Rosa, the property is characterized by moderately sloping hillsides, with scenic views across the Laguna looking toward Taylor Mountain and Santa Rosa. Owned by the Laguna de Santa Rosa Foundation, its conservation values are protected permanently by a District conservation easement.
