Sonoma County Agricultural Preservation and Open Space District

Camp Gualala

Thanks to an inaugural partnership between the District and the Forest Legacy program, young people will always be able to explore the outdoors here. Through a property agreement with the District, dramatic old growth redwoods and Douglas fir forests will be protected along with a mile-long stretch of the Gualala River, a designated steelhead stream. The Albany-Berkeley YMCA summer camp, situated on 15 acres of the site, excluded from the sale, will use the proceeds to invest in their infrastructure and continue to provide outdoor opportunities for urban youth. The public will also be able to enjoy up to 12 guided nature walks and hikes each year on this richly wooded land.
