Doerksen

Travelers along St. Helena Road northeast of Santa Rosa pass the heavily wooded hillsides of the Doerksen Ranch, used for cattle grazing and Christmas tree farming. The Doerksens also practice sustainable forestry and when they retire their Christmas tree business, they intend to cultivate a botanical tree garden for conifers from around the world. This site is home to many important natural and historic features, including Mark West Creek, which supports salmon; a lake; Douglas fir and redwood forests; and a residence dating back to the nineteenth century.
