Southeast of the Petaluma River, sheep graze in open pasture protected by a District conservation easement. If you find yourself on Lakeville Highway near Petaluma, you might slow down a bit at Cloudy Bend to take in the expansive views of the Petaluma marshlands. At Cloudy Bend sheep ranch, the salt harvest mouse and possibly the clapper rail also make their homes in the river levees.
