Austin Creek State Park is an equestrian’s paradise—you can ride through stands of primeval redwoods, along grassy hillsides and across streams filled with Coho salmon and steelhead trout. In the spring, fields bloom with poppies, lupines, buttercups and irises. From the mountain peaks, you’ll catch views of the Pacific through the oak-lined valleys laced with morning fog. The District expanded this beautiful recreation area by 92 acres by acquiring the Gustafsson and Magers’ properties in fee and deeding them to State Parks. It retained an easement over the land to continually protect this natural area and its timber resources.
