The District sold both these properties in a conservation sale to the Santa Rosa School District, which owns and manages them for wetland mitigation. The District holds a conservation easement over them that protects the distinct characteristics and uses of the land. The site's open and rural character provides a welcome vista for commuters driving on Highway 101 and Old Redwood Highway, as well as a scenic separation between the urban areas of Santa Rosa and Windsor. A special feature of this property is the Dogbane plant, used by native Americans for many decades for cordage and clothing.
